Support for AirPlay Coming to Hotel TVs Near You
Apple AirPlay is coming to over 60 IGH hotels and resort locations across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Here are the details.
Apple is finally bringing AirPlay support to TVs in hotels and resorts in locations across North America. More than 60 IGH Hotels & Resorts properties now allow guests to use Apple AirPlay.
Guests can stream digital content from an iPhone or iPad directly to AirPlay-enabled TVs. This includes televisions from Samsung, LG, Vizio, and other brands. AirPlay support in IGH hotels streamlines the sharing experience via a QR code that’s unique to the room. It allows you to use AirPlay connectivity securely and privately.
The hotel AirPlay support feature was announced last year but only rolled out with iOS 17.3 in January. You will be able to stream your favorite shows and movies on Apple TV+ and other popular streaming services.
Apple’s announcement states, “Users can automatically connect to the compatible LG hotel TV in their guest room and the hotel’s Wi-Fi network by scanning a unique QR code on the screen.”
After the connection is established, Apple says, “guests can share almost anything on the big screen in their hotel room directly from their iPhone or iPad. Guests can also pair multiple devices to the TV, so friends and loved ones traveling together can also enjoy.” The inclusion of AirPlay functionality could provide a more welcoming experience when you are traveling with kids or other people.
More than 60 IGH properties are introducing the AirPlay capability today, with others to be added in the coming months. Noteworthy brands under the IGH umbrella include Holiday Inn, Candlewood Suites, Staybridge Suites, and others.
