Microsoft’s Office 2016 new Office is available the public to start installing. If you’re an Office 365 subscriber, upgrading is very easy, and we’ll show you how.

Update 9/22/2015: The official version of Office 2016 is now available — This article, was written while Office 2016 was still in the public preview or beta stage.

Upgrade to Office 2016 Preview

If you’re an Office 365 subscriber, you’re running the current and stable version of Office 2013. If you want to start testing out the new features in Office 2016 Preview, it really only takes a few clicks and a short amount of time.

First, head to your Office 365 account page and log in. Then click Language and install options.

That’s all there is to it. Once the new preview suite has been installed, you can start checking out the new features. I installed it on the latest version of the Windows 10.

Windows Preview Software Considerations

Do note that installing Office 2016 on one PC or device, does not upgrade any other devices to it. So if you want it on other PCs or tablets, you’ll need to go through the install process on each of them.

Another important thing to know is you need to be running Windows 7 or higher, and you cannot install 2013 side-by-side with 2016. When you upgrade via Office 365, it uninstalls 2013 first, and you’re only left with 2016.

Have you been testing the Office 2016 yet? Whether it’s on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or a preview version of Windows 10, let us know how things are going in the comments below!

running a new Lenovo x1 Carbon, windows 8.1, office 2013. Install of preview fails with error 1025. Have tried many times. Contacted Answer Desk at Microsoft who only wanted to sell me support. I said that i was happy to pay if it was fixed, but couldn’t come to an agreement.
I’d love to try the new software.
