New Leak Suggests Google Pixel 8A Pricing Specifications

A reliable tipster has offered up new details about the upcoming Google Pixel 8a. It won’t see a price hike afterall. Here’s the skinny.

Rumors had suggested the upcoming Google Pixel 8a would see a price hike. There’s been some real buzz about the smartphone, which is supposed to debut in May 2024 as a less expensive alternative to the Google Pixel 8. A reliable leaker suggests the base 128GB model of the Pixel 8a might keep the same price tag as its predecessor, though.

Steve Hemmerstoffer, a reliable tipster who goes by the moniker OnLeaks, leaked some details to SmartPrix about the soon-to-be-released device. Among those details, OnLeaks says the 128GB version of the Google Pixel 8a will cost the same as the 7a, $499. So, the rumored price hike for the entry level model isn’t happening this cycle. He went on to say Google will also offer a $599 version with 256GB of storage.

The rumors say the Google Pixel 8a will get some decent upgrades. It will feature a 120Hz OLED display and the Google Tensor G3 System-on-a-Chip (SoC). That’s the same SoC powering Google’s flagship Pixel 8 series.

OnLeaks also says the Pixel 8a will have a better battery than the previous model. Rather than a 4,385mAh battery like in the Google Pixel 7a, the new model will include a 4,500mAh battery. That should give a bit of a bump in the useful battery life of the phone, unless the new generative AI-powered features eat into it.

I’ve been an iPhone user for years, but I have been thinking about picking up an Android as a backup. Maybe this will be the one. What do you think, does the Google Pixel 8a sound like a good investment to you? Let us know in the comments or over at our forums.
