How to Enable Two-Step Verification on Amazon
Amazon has finally added Two Factor Authentication (2FA) for users of its site. Here’s how it works and how to enable it on your account for extra security.
While having a strong password is essential for securing your Amazon account, adding a second layer of security via Two-Step Verification from the company is even more vital. Amazon offers the ability to add Two-Step Verification (2SV), aka Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), to your account.

Enable Two-Step Verification on Amazon
It’s straightforward to enable Two-Step Verification on Amazon by following these steps.
- Launch a browser, go to the Amazon site, and sign in if you aren’t already. Hover over the Accounts & Lists dropdown and select the Account link from the menu that appears.
- Click the Login & security button in the Your Account section.
- Scroll down the screen and tap the Turn on button in the 2-step verification section beneath your password.
- When prompted, sign into your account again, type in the verification code the company sends to your phone or email address on file, and click the Submit code button.
- Type in the mobile number you want to receive your 2SV code or select the option to use an authenticator app like Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator.
- Read over the final details about 2SV and click the Got it. Turn on Two-Step Verification button.
- You will get a verification message that lets you know Two-Step Verification settings have been successfully enabled for your Amazon account.
Securing Your Amazon Account
Once you follow the steps, the extra layer of security that 2SV adds will be enabled on your account. The next time you sign in with an untrusted device or browser, the second step of verification, either via an authenticator app or a text sent to your phone, will be required to sign in.

Right. As I wrote in the article, it’s currently U.S. only. Hopefully, the company is staggering it out, and it will be available in all countries soon.

If you do this, and get your number changed for whatever reason, Amazon will not help you recover your account. So all purchases such as digital movies, or music or even your prime fee will be locked with no way to gain access. I have spoken to over thirty different people, multiple supervisors, and they all say the same thing, “sorry, there’s nothing we can do.” Well that’s if they weren’t hanging up on you. Thanks amazon!!!

So if I fully verify amazon account, do I have receive reports verify mail address else after order the first item on Amazon ? Can I buy one item with big price to billing address or other billing address buy right the first time ? I once bought product on amazon after add to cart and enter my billing information is completed. Then 1 mail sent to info order and 1 mail sent is: “Your order can not be shipped Amazon.com” . It’s say something is : providing information: billing name, address, etc . So if I follow instructions verify as posts , can I order amazon not receive mail “Your order can not be shipped Amazon.com” to shipped my order ? I’m new member and don’t have experience on amazon and I in one other country , many friend want buy cheap at amazon product is also difficult to confirm account information , a few people be deleted immediately order the first time buy products and then reorder other product also del . Please guide me to get used amazon best service. Thanks you .

I’ve activated 2 step verification for Amazon on my iphone in the Amazon app. I use the SMS code sent to my phone. It works fine. However, when I try to login to Amazon’s website from my pc, after entering my username and password, it does not send a code to my phone. It tells me to enter the OTP sent to me. I never get a OTP, to my phone or otherwise.
I assumed since I set up 2 step verification for Amazon on the iPhone app, the same would work for logging into the website on my pc. But no, it still requires a OTP.
I downloaded Microsoft Authenticator onto my iPhone and set up my Amazon account. It generates a new code every 30 seconds. I tried entering a code generated from the Authenticator on my phone, connected to Amazon, but that doesn’t work either.
I’m stumped. Any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated.
