Proton Introduces a Bitcoin Wallet Called Proton Wallet

We are big fans of the privacy-first company Proton’s products. Proton has brought us a secure email service and encrypted password management with Proton Pass, an encrypted calendar product. It also offers end-to-end cloud storage via Proton Drive, a private and secure VPN. Most recently, Proton announced its AI-powered Proton Scribe.
Since the company has rolled out privacy-first products, the company isn’t stopping. Now, Proton is entering the crypto arena with the announcement of Proton Wallet. You can buy Bitcoin in over 150 countries through the wallet via Proton’s licensed third parties.
Proton Wallet also supports Bitcoin via email, which allows you to send and receive Bitcoin using your Proton Mail account. This option should make getting your Bitcoin where it needs to go more straightforward than using other complex Bitcoin wallet addresses.
In this week’s announcement, Proton CEO Andy Yen notes, “Proton Wallet is not just another self-custody Bitcoin wallet — it has several features that we believe make it the easiest way to introduce Bitcoin safely to newcomers.”
What is Bitcoin, and How is Proton Making it Easier?
Bitcoin is the most popular decentralized cryptocurrency available. It can be used to purchase things online, donate to podcasts, and more.
