How to Remove Quick Add on Snapchat

Snapchat can be quite aggressive in trying to fill up your contacts list. If you want to hide Quick Add suggestions from Snapchat, follow the steps in this guide.

I like to use Snapchat to send funny pictures and videos to my friends, but I’m a private person at heart. I don’t want other, random Snapchat users to add me unless I give them my username directly. That’s why I disable Snapchat’s Quick Add feature as soon as I sign into Snapchat. With Quick Add disabled, Snapchat won’t recommend my account to other users, leaving me in control of my privacy settings. If you want to know how to remove Quick Add on Snapchat, follow the steps below.

How to Turn Off Quick Add on Snapchat

Snapchat’s Quick Add feature suggests new friends based on mutual connections, similar to how Facebook suggests friends. While it can help expand your social media circle, you might prefer to keep the audience for your snaps more private.

Turning off Quick Add will prevent your account from being recommended to others in their own Quick Add suggestions. This tweak doesn’t block people on Snapchat but rather reduces your visibility on the platform. Users will only be able to add you if they have your username and add you directly.

To disable Quick Add on Snapchat, follow these steps.

1. Open the Snapchat app on your iPhone or Android device.
2. Tap your profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen to access your profile.
   
3. Next, tap the settings (gear) icon in the top-right corner to enter the settings menu.
   
4. Tap the See Me in Quick Add option.
   
5. Tap the Show me in Quick Add checkbox to disable the feature.
   

How to Remove Other Quick Add Suggestions From Snapchat

If you don’t have enough conversations, Snapchat will try to fill up your chat list with suggested users to add—this is Quick Add in action. You can’t stop this, either—Snapchat will continue to do it automatically. However, even if you don’t have your contacts synced, you can remove this list of suggestions by tapping the option to wipe any synced contacts in your settings.

To be clear, this works for all users to hide Quick Add suggestions. Even if you’ve not shared your contacts with Snapchat before, these steps will still wipe the full Quick Add suggestions from your chat list. To remove other Quick Add suggestions from Snapchat, follow these steps.

1. Open Snapchat on your device to start.
2. Tap your profile icon in the top-left corner.
   
3. Select the settings icon, located in the top-right corner of your profile menu.
   
4. Scroll down and tap the Contact Syncing option in the Settings menu.
   
5. Tap Remove synced contacts from Snapchat to wipe any cleared contacts from your Snapchat and force Quick Add suggestions to disappear.
   

If you sign out, or if you add additional contacts, you may need to repeat these steps to wipe the list again.

Managing Your Snapchat Profile

The Quick Add feature on Snapchat lets you expand your social circle, but not everyone is comfortable with the lack of privacy it offers. Disabling it will stop your Snapchat account from being recommended to others.
