How to Pair Your Bluetooth Headphones or Speakers to Apple Watch
With the release of Apple Watch Series 5, there is plenty of storage to load up on music and other audio. And why not pair your Bluetooth-enabled headphones to listen to it while on the go.
Today’s Apple Watches come with larger storage capacities and cellular connectivity. This makes the wearable ideally suited for listening to music, podcasts, and now, audiobooks while on-the-go or your desk. For this, you need Bluetooth headphones or speakers. Here’s how to pair your audio devices to Apple Watch.
Pair Apple Watch to Bluetooth Headphones
For your audio device to communicate with Apple Watch follow these directions:
- Prepare your audio device for pairing, according to the instructions that came with it. Most likely, this involves pressing the Bluetooth button on the device.
- On your Apple Watch, tap the Digital Crown.
- Tap the Settings app.
- Choose Bluetooth. Your Apple Watch begins searching for nearby Bluetooth accessories.
- Select your Bluetooth accessory.
- Enter a passkey or PIN, when applicable.
Apple Watch remembers paired devices for future use. Moving forward, simply turn on your Bluetooth device to use.
Unpairing Devices
To unpair a device with Apple Watch:
- On your Apple Watch, tap the Digital Crown.
- Tap the Settings app.
- Choose Bluetooth. Your Apple Watch begins searching for nearby Bluetooth accessories.
- Tap on the “i” icon to the right of your Bluetooth accessory.
- Choose Unpair Device.
Choosing an Audio Output
Of course, you can connect more than just headphones. And you can pair more than one Bluetooth-enabled audio device to your Apple Watch. To select the one to use, tap on the sound icon on the play screens of the Audiobooks, Music, Now Playing, Podcasts, and Radio apps to open the Bluetooth settings. Then select the device to use.
You can pair your AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones to enjoy audio while on a walk or at the gym. Or, stream audio to your Bluetooth speakers while working at your desk.
Pairing audio devices to Apple Watch is a relatively pain-free process. It works with any Bluetooth device and lets you enjoy music, podcasts, and other audio files either stored on your wearable device or through streaming without your iPhone. It makes walks around town, a trip to the gym, or any other activity that much better.
